Where to buy seeds and plants online

Updated: May 17, 2021

This blog is about where I recommend to buy seeds and plants online in Australia.

Often you can't source all of your plants from local stores, find rare plants or varieties more suited to your balcony climate. That's when I turn to online stores. Below are where I buy my seeds and plants. These are purely my recommendations and this isn't a sponsored blog post. Let me know if you have any other suggestions I should check out!

Seeds stores online

This is my favorite online seed store. Boondie Seeds is based in Armadale NSW. The price is such great value and they have a grate range of flowers, herbs and veggies. They only sell non-GMO seeds if that is your thing. I also love that there is a seasonal section page so you can find things you can grow for the current season. They also have seed packet collections you can buy like herb tea collection which comes with 12 packets of different seeds or winter vegetable packs which has 15 different packets.

The Seed collection is a great online seed store which also has some good garden supplies. I like the twine in a tin and plant labels.

The Seed Collection is based in Upper Ferntree Gully VIC and only sell heirloom,

open pollinated, non hybrid and non GMO seeds with no chemical treatments. They have a 'what to sow now' page that is very helpful and a variety of seeds to buy from.

Eden Seeds have been providing seeds via mail order for more than 30 years and are based in the Gold Coast in QLD. It is so lovely to browse through their printed catalogue which you can order to be posted out for free. You can also order the seeds online. All their seeds are old traditional, open pollinated, non-hybrid, no chemical treatments, non-GMO and also have an organic range. They have a 'what can I plant now?' page that is handy and are reasonably priced. Their free info guides for planting are an amazing free resource. Their seed catalog has a huge variety and well worth buying.

They have different varieties the others don't with over 1000 seed varieties which is why I like Happy Valley Seeds. They have a great selection of Japanese and Indian veggies. They offer heirloom, open-pollinated, natural as well as select hybrid variety seeds. They also have a section on their website with seeds that are suitable for container pots. They are located in Sydney NSW.

Plant stores online

My favourite online plant store is 100% Daleys Fruit who are based in Kyogle in northern NSW. They have such a lovely variety of plants which they send out to you by courier. It's mostly fruit as the name suggests. They have a large variety and you can sign up to be notified if what you're looking for is out of stock. They have heaps of dwarf and self-pollinating varieties that you can grow in a large planter pots. I highly recommend them.

The Herb cottage has such a beautiful range of plants they post out to you in neatly and well packed boxes, check out their video on how they send them. All of their plants are organically grown. I just love receiving these boxes full of herbs and plants hard to find in garden stores. They send you charming emails after your delivery is sent to let you know how to care for your plants (with another great video) once they arrive and how to unbox them. They have all the best varieties of salvias, herbs, geraniums and other edibles. All of the plants have detailed profile information on their history, use and growing needs. They have many other products like essential oils, herbal teas and gardening tools. They are based on the Gold Coast QLD. A great place to source plants!
